What to write in each section
- Career objective
- One or two lines on the work you want and what you bring to it. Name the role if you know it, such as accounts assistant or data entry operator, rather than a general line that would fit anyone.
- Personal details
- Father's name, date of birth, gender, marital status, nationality and the languages you know. Religion and hobbies are optional; include them if the employer's form asks for them.
- Educational qualifications
- Class 10, Class 12, graduation and any post-graduation, each with the board or university, the year you passed and your marks or grade. Our format lists Class 10 first, the order many forms use, and you can move lines up or down.
- Work experience
- Your current or last job first: the role, the company, the town and the dates. If this is your first job, leave the section out, or list an internship or apprenticeship instead.
- Skills
- Computer skills you can really use, such as MS Excel, Tally or a typing speed, and any licence or certificate the job needs, like a driving licence or an ITI trade.
- Contact details
- Your full address with the PIN code, a mobile number you answer, and an email address you check.
- Declaration
- A one-line statement that the details are true, followed by the place and date. Sign below it once you print the biodata.
Biodata, resume or CV?
A biodata puts personal details first: your date of birth, father's name, marital status and so on. A resume leaves those out and leads with your experience and what you achieved, usually on a single page. A CV is longer and fuller, and is used mostly for academic and research jobs.
In India, biodata is the word many government offices, factories, shops and first employers still use. Office jobs at private companies more often ask for a resume. If an advert simply asks for your biodata, the format on this page is what it means.

Making it with our biodata maker
- 1Press Make my biodata. A job biodata opens, with every section on this page ready to fill in.
- 2Choose English, हिन्दी or मराठी. The headings and the declaration change with the language.
- 3Fill in what applies to you. Empty lines and sections are left out of the printout, so a fresher can simply skip work experience.
- 4Add your photo, then pick Saral or Sada, the two free designs, or one of the others.
- 5Download a PDF to print or email, a JPG image to send on WhatsApp, or a Word file to edit later.
Free, with one small line
The Saral and Sada designs are free for a job biodata, with all three file types and no sign-up. They carry a small line at the bottom naming our site.
If you'd rather not have that line, or want a more polished look, ₹49 paid once unlocks the other 50 designs on any device you sign in from, and removes the line. The Modern designs in the gallery below suit a job biodata well.
Tips employers notice
- Keep it to one page
- Most job biodatas fit on one page. If yours runs over, shorten the objective and list only your last two or three jobs.
- Use a recent photo
- A plain, recent passport-size photo against a light background. If the advert doesn't ask for a photo, it's fine to leave it out.
- Match the advert
- If the job asks for Tally, a typing speed or a driving licence, make sure those words appear in your skills.
- Read the numbers twice
- One wrong digit in your mobile number and the call never comes. Check it, your email and your marks before you print.
- Sign the printed copy
- Sign below the declaration in blue or black ink, and fill in the place and date.
Job biodata in Hindi or Marathi
For a government job form in Hindi, or a local job in Maharashtra, switch the language to हिन्दी or मराठी. Headings such as शैक्षणिक योग्यता and कार्य अनुभव, and the declaration, are written for you, and you can type your details in either script. The blank Word formats above come in all three languages.
Questions
What is the format of a biodata for a job?
Name and photo at the top, then career objective, personal details, educational qualifications, work experience, skills and contact details, ending with a declaration, the place and the date. Most fit on one page.
Is a job biodata the same as a resume?
Not quite. A biodata leads with personal details such as date of birth and father's name; a resume leaves those out and leads with experience. Many employers in India accept either.
How do I write a biodata for my first job?
Leave work experience out, or list an internship or apprenticeship. Give more space to your education, skills and certificates, and write an objective that names the kind of job you want.
Can I download a job biodata format in Word?
Yes. The blank formats above open in Microsoft Word or Google Docs, in English, Hindi and Marathi. If you fill in our form instead, your biodata downloads as a Word file too, with your details in place.
Is the job biodata maker free?
Yes. Make it in the Saral or Sada design and download the PDF, image or Word file free, without signing up. Those two designs have a small line at the bottom naming our site.
Should I put a photo on my job biodata?
Add one if the advert asks for it; otherwise it's up to you. Use a plain, recent passport-size photo, not a cropped group or wedding picture.
What do I write in the declaration of a biodata?
One line saying the details are true, such as: "I hereby declare that the information given above is true to the best of my knowledge and belief." Then the place and date, and your signature on the printed copy.
Ready to make yours?
Your details appear in every design as you type. Nothing is uploaded.
